日本でもマスコミとは異なる立場で情報を発信するインデペンデント・メディアが少しずつ育ち、メディアに多様性が生まれてきました。しかし、その財政的組織的基盤は脆弱です。インデペンデント・メディアの盛んな米国では、どのようにそれが生まれてきたのか、どのように運営されているのかなど、作り手の立場から調査を行なってきました。２０１０年秋から『シネマ・ジャーナル』にシリーズで執筆をはじめ、２０１１年３月には１ヶ月にわたり、米国取材を行ないました。２０１２年にはアジア地域でのインフラも調査予定。日本での調査も充実させます。

In Japan independent media is growing quickly. However, its organizational and financial basis is still weak. To learn from other societies with more developed independent media infra, I initiated a project to do research on various independent media organizations in various countries from a filmmaker’s point of view. Some of my focus are the background and history of creation of the organizations and how they are managed democratically. Since fall 2010, I have written a series of articles on the theme for the Cinema Journal. I conducted a month-long research trip in US in March 2011. In 2012 I am planning to do research in Asia.
